Purple Mouth

Aiden has had a recurring yeast infection in his mouth for the last five weeks. This past week the infection worsened so much that he's been having difficulty nursing. The doctor encouraged us to try gentian violet, a topical anticeptic, before moving to the stronger, more expensive oral medication. Gentian violet is a purple dye that takes three days to fade after use is discontinued. We have to swab his mouth three days in a row, so it looks like our poor baby is going to have a purple mouth for a week!


Mommy was pretty sad about my purple mouth! She almost cried!
