Cute As A Button

Yesterday, we threw a party for March Madness, um, I mean, Caleb's 1st birthday!

Birthday boy waiting for our guests to arrive

Our favorite big brother

Our theme was "Cute As A Button" and Mommy had fun making these cute button cupcake toppers!

All of the food was round, like buttons.

Julie won the "guess how many buttons are in the jar" game by guessing 475; the actual count was 474!

The party favors were button-shaped sugar cookies laced with licorice!

This child will put anything and everything in his mouth, but he immediately seemed suspicious of the cupcake.

He mainly opted for pulverizing the cupcake instead of eating it, though he did take a bite or two.

I think he got more cupcake in his hair than he did in his mouth.

Most of the cupcake ended up on his lap. Cleaning him up led to quite a screaming battle!

Caleb received wonderful presents from all of our friends including a sprinkler set and monogrammed beach towel, a firehouse, a Cozy Coup car, and so much more! Thanks to everyone for all of the special gifts!

As a birthday bonus, Michigan State won their game! Yay, Spartans! Though Caleb nearly had a heart attack when all 20 of us screamed when the last basket went in with barely 2 seconds left on the clock!

Now for the chunky monkey stats! The pediatrician walked in to our appointment this week and started off the visit by saying, "Whoa! He's a BIG boy!" Yes, yes, he is! He weighed in at 27lbs 10oz (99th percentile) and measured 33-1/2 inches (off the charts!) No idea where he is getting his height but at least that balances out his weight! The pediatrician suggested we might want to move straight to 2% milk rather than whole, ha ha!

Happy birthday, littlest man! We love you!

Beth, as always you did such a beautiful job on the party. You are so talented! I might have to recruit you to help out with a special 2 yr olds party coming up soon. Great pics! Happy Birthday, Little Button.
