Details of Delivery

We haven't shared too many details about Aiden's birth, so I thought I'd share for those of you who don't know. While we are so glad that our baby is with us, his delivery was less than ideal. Due to a severe skin rash caused by the pregnancy, Beth was induced at 38 weeks on the morning of December 27. Labor progressed smoothly, even better than expected, but went long. After 15 hours of manageable labor, the doctor decided we were ready to push! We were really excited to finally meet our baby! Unfortunately, though Aiden descended in to the pelvis, he didn't seem to want to come out. After 2-1/2 hours of pushing, the doctor determined that Aiden's head was stuck and swelling. At 1am on December 28, we headed in for a cesarean section. The surgery was hard for Beth after a long and disappointing day, but Aiden was born healthy and strong at 1:22am with only a small bruise on his head as evidence of the difficult delivery.

Beth is recovering well, and we both know that Aiden is worth every pain and difficulty. We would do everything over in a heartbeat just to have him with us. Please keep Mom in your prayers as she heals.
